Bellator 249 weigh-in results: Cyborg, Blencowe on weight, but two main card fighters heavy

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – MMA Junkie was on scene at Wednesday’s official Bellator 249 fighter weigh-ins at Mohegan Sun Arena, where two fighters missed weight.

Two main card fighters missed their marks by three pounds. Half of Thursday’s co-main event, Jaleel Willis (13-2 MMA, 1-0 BMMA), came in heavy at 159 pounds ahead of his promotional return against Patricky Freire (23-9 MMA, 14-7 BMMA).

And Leandro Higo (19-5 MMA, 2-3 BMMA) missed weight at 139 pounds for his main card fight against Ricky Bandejas (13-4 MMA, 3-3 BMMA), who made weight at 136 pounds.

After the conclusion of the ceremonial weigh-ins and faceoffs, Higo issued a statement on Instagram explaining his weight miss. Higo wrote that an unexpected flight delay “severely” affected hit weight cut.

Middleweight Curtis Millender (18-6 MMA, 3-3 BMMA) weighed in as an alternate and will be paid by the promotion despite his fight against Joe Schilling being canceled earlier this week.

Women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg (22-2 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) and challenger Arlene Blencowe (13-7 MMA, 6-3 BMMA) made championship weight for their main event bout at Mohegan Sun Arena.
