Muay Thai: Josh Tonna unsuccessful as Sam-A Gaiyanghadao defends title [VIDEO]
Canberra’s Josh Tonna was looking to springboard into Muay Thai royalty when he took on 425 fight veteran and one of greatest fighters of all time in Sam-A Gaiyanghadao.
The bout headlined the One Championship: Reign of Dynasties event held in Singapore on Friday night.
Sam-A started slowly, remained composed, and really started to dominate by the end of the first round. In the second round, Sam-A dropped “Timebomb” Tonna with a straight left. Tonna survived the count however Sam-A wasted no time, pouncing on Tonna with punches and kicks. A low-kick against the cage, swept Tonna’s leg and he went down again. The referee incorrectly called it a knockdown which meant that Sam-A needed just one more knockdown to get the victory.
It wouldn’t take long, just 15-seconds later as another straight left dropped Tonna and the referee ended the contest.
With the win, his career 370th, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao successfully defends his One Super Series flyweight muay thai title.
