Professional Fighters League (PFL) 5 is set for Atlantic City on July 25th

The Professional Fighters League is taking over Atlantic City for the second half of the 2019 season, starting with PFL 4 on July 11th and continuing with PFL 5 on July 25 and PFL 6 on August 8. With PFL’s unique season format, these final Regular Season events will determine who makes the Playoffs and at what seed.

The PFL has unveiled the fight card for PFL 5, which will feature Featherweight and Lightweight action. Please see full fight card below, in addition to some top storylines heading into the event.

Chris Wade and Andre Harrison take on the #1s

  • After hometown wins at PFL 2 on Long Island, Chris Wade and Andre Harrison each face tough tasks at PFL 5. They both fight the top-seeded fighter in their respective divisions. Wade faces Akhmed Aliev, who leads the Lightweight Division after a first-round KO of Carlao Silva at PFL 2, in the last fight of the night. Harrison faces Movlid Khaybulaev, who is fresh off the fastest finish in PFL history, a 10-second flying knee KO of Damon Jackson that put the Russian at the top of the Featherweight standings.

Luis Rafael Laurentino takes on 2018 Champ Lance Palmer

  • Lance “The Party” Palmer won last year’s Featherweight title after a perfect 5-0 season. This year at PFL 2, he continued that unbeaten run with a dominant unanimous decision win over Alex Gilpin. But Palmer now faces a matchup that could be his most challenging yet. Luis Rafael Laurentino enters this fight with a 34-1-0 record, and the 26-year-old is coming off a shocking 23-second TKO of the highly-regarded PFL newcomer Jeremy Kennedy.

Natan Schulte Backing up his 2018 Lightweight Title

  • Natan Schulte won last year’s Lightweight title and walked away with $1 million, but some felt his split decision win vs. Chris Wade in the semifinals and his unanimous decision win vs. Rashid Magomedov in the finals could have gone the other way. Despite being the champ, Schulte has something to prove this year and he took the first step towards silencing doubters at PFL 2 when he submitted Bao Yincang in the 1st round to score 6 points, leaving nothing to the judges. Now he faces veteran Ramsey Nijem, who spent the majority of his career with the UFC, going 5-5 in 10 fights. Nijem will be fresh after earning a walkover and 3 points at PFL 2 following a pre-fight injury to his opponent, Ronys Torres.
