Canadian MMA Rumor Mill – May 14, 2019

Rory MacDonald advanced to the semi-finals of the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix after a contentious majority draw against Jon Fitch. Some were not in agreement with MacDonald advancing in the tournament as the one judge that didn’t score the fight a draw had Fitch winning the bout by a score of 48-46. As we know a title can not change hands on a draw and thus MacDonald moves on.

MacDonald also raised some eyebrows in his post fight interview when he stated “I Don’t Know If I Have That Same Drive To Hurt People Anymore” which had some thinking he may be contemplating retirement. Alas MacDonald confirmed he will continue in the tournament and face Neiman Gracie at Bellator 222 on June 14 in New York City for the right to face Douglas Lima in the Finals!
