Charges Dropped!

In a shocking turn of events that not even “Mystic Mac” could have predicted, mixed martial arts (MMA) super fan Ahmed Abdirzak refused to cooperate with prosecutors and has since recanted his cell-phone smashing story after settling a civil suit against former UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.

As a result, all criminal charges have been dropped, according to Miami Herald.

That means “Notorious,” much like Darren “Taxi” Till, has been able to buy his way out of trouble following his arrest last month in Miami. The original charges were felony strong-armed robbery and misdemeanor criminal mischief after the hot-headed Irishman was accused of grabbing Abdirzak’s phone and smashing it to pieces.

“If McGregor was trying to pay him directly, without a civil case, then he would have been in trouble for trying to tamper with or bribe a witness,” former Florida prosecutor Paul Walsh told MMAjunkie.com. “But when there’s a civil action open, they’re free to negotiate terms and money. The way they did it is the way you’re supposed to do it, so it doesn’t look improper. Works out good for (McGregor). I don’t know what it cost him, but I’m sure it worked out for him.”

With that messy business behind him, McGregor can once again focus on his growing whiskey business, as well as his combat sports career, which is expected to resume at some point later this year against an opponent to be named.

Stay tuned.
