McGregor releases statement following Miami arrest
Irish combat sports megastar delivers message to fans after a Miami incident that lead to his arrest.
Once again, Conor McGregor has something to say after an arrest.
Following an incident Monday morning in which he was taken into custody for damaging a man’s phone (and taking it along with him) after celebrating his mother’s birthday, the 30-year-old fighter was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional center after posting a $12,500 bond, and his attorney has pledged full cooperation in the case.
While this is far from over, he’s not waiting to say anything about the situation and is keeping his words short and sweet. McGregor took to social media to demonstrate he’s attempting to move on from the incident (link here).
Of course, McGregor’s no stranger to the criminal justice process in the U.S. We all remember the dolly incident last year and the rounds of speculation that spun out from it, leading to him and his legal team striking a deal.
For now, the legal process begins to move in a manner that makes his immediate fighting plans uncertain. If the case is to be resolved quickly (and for his sake, quietly), we won’t have to wait as long to find where he goes next in his career. For now, these matters are out of his hands and outside of the UFC’s control until the legal process sorts this out.
We’ll keep you posted on developments as they happen in this case.
