Tenshin Bounces Back From Mayweather Loss With Flip Kick KO
Japanese kickboxing star Tenshin Nasukawa suffered a terrible start to 2019 when he faced boxing great Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition match at Rizin’s big New Years Eve event. Mayweather battered and dropped the young star three times in one round before Tenshin’s corner finally threw in the towel.
What was supposed to be a profile lifting bout ended up being one of the biggest embarrassments in Japanese combat sports. Was this the end of Tenshin Nasukawa?
Apparently not. Tenshin returned for a RISE World Series 58kg tournament kickboxing match against Federico Roma and stunned the Argentinian fighter with a wild knockout kick that saw Tenshin go upside down on one arm to deliver the final blow.
The finish came at 1:30 of round 3 and moved Tenshin into the semi-finals of the RISE tournament. Based on this result versus New Year’s Eve, we’d say Nasukawa should stick to the kickboxing and refuse any more boxing exhibitions.
After the Mayweather debacle, Floyd acolyte Gervonta Davis and original UFC champ champ Conor McGregor both called him out. Of course, we imagine neither would be very interested in a pure kickboxing bout. After watching the above clip, now you know why.
