Dustin Who? White Wants Khabib-Ferguson, McGregor-Cerrone

Welcome to the snub club.

Dustin Poirier told the mixed martial arts (MMA) media that he's giving Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) an ultimatum, as “The Diamond” will only return to the Octagon for a lightweight title shot or a rematch against ex-lightweight champion, Conor McGregor.

More on that “No. 1 Bullshit” right here.

Unfortunately for the red-hot contender, it doesn’t sound like promotion president, Dana White, is on board with either scenario, telling MMA Junkie that Khabib Nurmagomedov is going to defend his title against Tony Ferguson, while McGregor is expected to be paired off with Donald Cerrone.

“Of course Tony deserves it,” White said. “He’s the No. 1 contender. He’s the guy. That’s the fight.”

Too bad we might not see it until November. While we’re waiting, White may want to check with “The Eagle,” whose manager insists that “El Cucuy” will NOT get the next crack at the lightweight crown.

Probably because a McGregor rematch will pay the bigger bucks, which could leave us with Poirier vs. Cerrone — itself an outstanding fight — but it sounds like White has “Notorious” plans for the longtime “Cowboy.”

“Those two want to fight each other; they’ve both earned it,” White told John Morgan about McGregor vs. Cerrone. “If these two want to fight, I’m down.”

I’m sure Poirier (24-5, 1 NC), who was previously linked to a Nate Diaz fight, could be persuaded to fight a different (and less crazy) opponent if UFC is willing to offer him a new, more lucrative contract.

Still lots of pieces to this 155-pound puzzle.
