Chiesa to Ferguson: Unblock me on Twitter, let’s be friends!
Most fighters are campaigning for a World championship, Michael Chiesa is campaigning for friendship.
Chiesa, fresh off a successful welterweight debut against Carlos Condit, spoke with Submission Radio during the week’s UFC 234 events in Melbourne, Australia. Chiesa is in town supporting his training partner Austin Arnett.
Chiesa championed on Tuesday for Ferguson to get a UFC lightweight title shot. In that tweet, he also revealed “El Cucuy” has him blocked. “Tony blocked me. Idk why,” Chiesa mentioned. Fellow fighter Jessica-Rose Clark chimed in, adding she too has been blocked by Ferguson.

“I have a ton of respect for the guy, he is super tough,” Chiesa said of Ferguson when speaking to Submission Radio. In fact, the two have always gotten along swimmingly. “I ran into him after weigh-ins for [UFC] 226 when I fought Pettis. I ran into him after weigh-ins and he was like, ‘Hey, man how are you? How are you doing? You’re okay?’ We talked for a while.”
Chiesa to this day cannot figure out why Ferguson blocked him on Twitter. “Tony, we’re not in the same weigh class anymore. Let’s be friends!” he proclaimed. “I have a ton of respect for the guy, but it is what it is. You know, different strokes for different folks. Maybe he just doesn’t know I’m blocked. Maybe he just has a lot of people blocked. He has Jessy Jess blocked.”
“I’m still pulling every time he fights,” he assured. “God... I said give the guy a f—king title shot for Christ’s sake. [He has] the best winning streak in the UFC. Give the man a title fight. Give Tony Ferguson a title fight. He needs it!”
During the interview, Chiesa also shutdown the possibility of fighting Demian Maia. Chiesa praised the Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend, but said their fight schedules do not currently line up.
