CM Punk Headed To UFC Fight Pass
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) experimental welterweight, Phil Brooks, is returning to mixed martial arts (MMA) on the UFC Fight Pass digital network, thanks to a new deal with Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) in New Jersey.
No, he won’t be fighting.
Instead, the pro wrestler affectionately known as “CM Punk” will provide color commentary for CFFC 71 on Dec. 14, 2018 in Atlantic City, alongside veteran play-by-play broadcaster Mike Gill, as well as longtime CFFC mouthpiece Brian Palakow.
“I can’t wait for this opportunity to call the CFFC fights on UFC Fight Pass,” Brooks said in the official release. “CFFC has a long history of putting on exciting fights featuring some of the sport’s up-and-coming athletes. This card is going to be a lot of fun and I’m really excited to have the chance to be a part of it.”
Brooks (0-2) transitioned from pro wrestling to MMA, bypassing the amateur circuit along the way, and was quickly taken out by 170-pound prospect Mickey Gall in late 2016. He would return nearly two years later for a second crack at combat sports success, but went down on points to Mike Jackson at UFC 225 in Chicago.
