The Ultimate Fighter 28, Episode 9 results: Batista vs. Frazier
Michel Batista faces off with Justin Frazier on The Ultimate Fighter 28

Justin Frazier came into The Ultimate Fighter 28 overweight and with lingering questions about his cardio.

He’s now one fight away from a six-figure contract with the UFC.

The 29-year-old punched his ticket to the heavyweight finals with a first-round finish of Olympic wrestler Michel Batista on episode nine of TUF. “The Grizzly Bear” made short work of a strangely tentative Batista, softening him up with leg kicks early before landing a big left hand near the end of the round that put him firmly in the driver’s seat.

Prior to that, Batista showed almost zero offense, allowing Frazier to march forward and pepper him with leg kicks. The finishing flurry saw Frazier clip Batista’s chin, immediately causing the Cuban fighter to cover up, and Frazier followed with ground-and-pound to secure the TKO victory and his spot at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale on Nov. 30.

Frazier, representing coach Kelvin Gastelum, now awaits the winner of the other heavyweight semifinal between Juan Espino and Maurice Green.

In other storylines, Team Gastelum celebrated Macy Chiasson’s birthday and also decided to get TUF 28 tattoos to commemorate their time in the house. Marciea Allen chooses not to join them, citing personal problems with the increasingly boisterous Maurice Greene.

Previously, Gastelum and his coaches were shown sitting Greene down to talk to him about his drinking and boorishness, which caused Greene to break down into tears.

When the team headed out to get the tattoos, Pannie Kianzad and Bea Malecki show their support for Allen, who still declined going on the trip. Later, a team meeting was held and Allen let Greene know that it was his behavior that was ruining her experience in the house. He apologized profusely and vowed to change his ways, which seemed to appease Allen.

Here are the semifinal matchups and results so far:

Justin Frazier def. Michel Batista via TKO (punches) in round one
