Nate Diaz is gearing up for a boxing match with Jorge Masvidal this coming June, but now the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) superstar has to worry about a civil lawsuit dished out by the fake Logan Paul.

In case you forgot, Diaz got into a one-sided street fight with social media influencer Rodney Petersen, better known as “Not Logan Paul,” nearly one year ago in New Orleans. Diaz was in town to support a teammate competing at the Misfits 6 boxing event only to find himself in a Bourbon Street brawl. Diaz and Peterson eventually crossed paths and the UFC star laid waste to the social media lookalike with a suffocating guillotine choke.

While Diaz was initially charged for second-degree battery, the Orleans Parish District Attorney eventually dropped the case and let Diaz walk without punishment, citing self defense.

“Today, the Orleans Parish District Attorney informed us they will not be pursuing a case against Nate Diaz,” Diaz’s representative, Zach Rosenfield, told MMA Junkie back in September. “Since Rodney Petersen sought out to fight Nate on Bourbon Street, we have maintained Nate’s actions were 100% in self defense. It was clear on video, clear in pictures and clear from the multiple other videos Rodney posted before and after.”

Apparently this wasn’t good enough for fake Logan Paul.

On Friday, TMZ reported that Petersen has filed an official civil lawsuit against Diaz for their New Orleans incident. Petersen did suffer a head injury after hitting the pavement following Diaz’s choke, but the severity of that injury remains unknown. It is also unknown how much Petersen is suing Diaz for.

When TMZ reached out to Rosenfield, Diaz’s long-time rep, about the recent civil lawsuit he responded with, “LOL.” Sources close to Diaz believe Petersen’s case holds very little water.

Diaz, 39, is currently scheduled to fight Jorge Masvidal in a rematch under boxing rules on June 1. It will be a reboot from their “BMF” title fight dating back to UFC 244 in Nov. 2019. It will also be Diaz’s second appearance inside of the boxing ring since officially parting ways with UFC in late 2022, as he’s coming off a decision loss to Jake Paul last summer.
